It definitely feels more like "rag tag group - maybe troublemakers no others wanted - thrown together in a hurry to do an ad hoc propaganda mission" rather than "elite force sent to do super special rescue". Saving Private Ryan is a spectacular technical achievement. The Thin Red Line is a much better film.
